Analytic Systems Developer
Portland, OR



Bring your technical expertise to the following role:

  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of a technological environment that enables the actuarial/underwriting/healthcare informatics department to reach its potential of providing superior rating, underwriting, and analytics, thereby becoming a competitive advantage for Regence.
  • Participate in a team environment for the development, implementation, and maintenance of actuarial, underwriting and healthcare informatics application systems.
  • Program, debug and test applications in a development environment.
  • Provide the team with technical oversight, code reviews, design reviews, and mentorship.
  • Provide technical, interpersonal, and administrative skills in performing day to day work.



Qualifications:

Combine your degree and development experience with the following skills and abilities:

  • Bachelors and Masters Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field. Appropriate additional experience beyond the minimum required experience may be substituted for education.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in a multi-platform environment, including, but not limited to application development or database development.
  • Ability to develop efficient and effective program and system solutions in solving highly complex business problems.
  • Proven ability to implement and deliver software solutions through the iterative life cycles using Agile development, XP, or SCRUM.
  • Must be able to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technologies and methodologies and apply them to technological and/or business needs.
  • Ability to develop common solutions/acceptable compromises for business users with conflicting Business Intelligence needs.
  • Must be able to analyze, diagnose and resolve complex programming and system problems independently.
  • Ability to work well with groups of business customers and IT partners.
  • Provide direction to others in analyzing and solving program and system issues and problems.
  • Provide technical direction and solutions to other team members.
  • Knowledge of common Web application platforms, particularly Enterprise Java development J2EE, Java, IBM Web Sphere. To a lesser extent, knowledge of Microsoft ISS/.NET technologies is desirable.
  • Strong familiarity with Oracle, SQL, Server, Sybase, DB2, Microsoft Analysis Services/OLAP and mainframe database systems and reporting methodologies.
  • Working knowledge on Object-oriented analysis and design.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to read and produce UML diagrams.
  • Adobe Flex development is a plus.
